Christian Watson had to be rushed to the hospital.
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson left Thursday’s game against the Carolina Panthers. The chest injury he suffered was so bad that he left the stadium in an ambulance.
Watson was able to walk off the field and into the ambulance on his own power. However, he left the game in the first half to be taken to a local hospital. The Packers announced that he had sustained a chest injury.
The Packers stated he was being transported to the hospital for precautionary reasons. A popular NFL doctor had something else to say.
NFL Doctor Shares Terrifying Health Take on Christian Watson After Serious Injury
Following Christian Watson’s chest injury during the Packers vs. Panthers game, Dr. David Chao gave his take. He claimed that Watson was likely sent to the hospital due to concern over a sternoclavicular joint sprain.
A sternoclavicular joint sprain is an injury to the ligaments that support the joint where your collarbone meets your breastbone at the base of your neck, according to Sports Medicine.
The joint plays a vital role in shoulder and arm movement.
The crazy part is, despite the brutal diagnosis from Dr. Chao, Watson was still able to return from the hospital and enter himself back into the game during the third quarter.
The reaction from the Green Bay crowd said it all.
At this point, it’s probably safe to assume that Watson avoided the “sternoclavicular joint sprain” that was originally diagnosed by Dr. Chao. We’ll likely find out more after the contest.
Watson was putting together a fantastic game before the injury. He had recorded six receptions for 100 yards. It’ll be interesting to see how he deals with the pain for the remainder of this contest.
