Family identifies 20-year-old co-pilot after Learjet crash.
At least one person on the doomed Learjet flight has been identified.
Nathalia Gadelha has been ID’d as the co-pilot of the Learjet 60 that crashed in Florida on Sunday afternoon. Haunting cockpit audio from the Learjet captured her distress as she likely knew nobody would survive what was happening.
Filgueiras also appears to scream, “Look out the window, Jeff!” in the chilling audio seconds before the jet crashed in a ball of flames. Whomever Jeff is has not yet been identified by authorities.
Now, Nathalia Gadelha’s family is speaking out.
Family Breaks Silence As Nathalia Gadelha Is Officially Identified After Fatal Plunge
Over the weekend, a Bahamas-bound Learjet crashed into a South Florida mobile home park, killing all nine people on board. The plane, which had departed Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas, took a sharp right turn before nosediving from 8,000 feet into the ground.
20-year-old Nathalia Gadelha was a co-pilot on that jet.
Her mother confirmed it on Monday. Ms. Corteleti said her daughter had been passionate about flying since childhood. Gadelha was a 20-year-old pilot who earned her private pilot’s license while still in high school. She accomplished this years before she could legally drive.
Furthermore, she recalled that her daughter used to enjoy going to the Boca Raton Airport to watch planes take off and land as a child.
“She loved the freedom,” Ms. Corteleti said. “It was completely different seeing the world from the top.”
Ms. Corteleti said her daughter was the pilot, but she did not know the identity of the pilot who was at the controls when the plane began to fall. This story is still developing.
